You should be aware of some of the following suggestions:

• There will be limited availability of viewing areas.

•Many town roads could be closed due to seasonal weather.  Please observe all road closures.

•We may have some challenges for cell phone service.  Internet may be slow or nonexistent due to the number of users, keep that in mind when you go to use a debit card.  Bring cash with you to avoid disappointment.

•Bring a trash container and do not throw trash out your window in our town.  Take the trash container home with you when you leave.

•We suggest you bring food, since many of the restaurants will be at capacity.

•We suggest you gas up before you come to our town, as there may be a limit on gas due to the high numbers of visitors expected.

•Parking must be limited to designated parking areas, please pay attention to signage posted.

•There will be a first aid station set up in the village for minor injuries or concerns.  Again, follow signs posted for exact location.

•It is typically mud season at that time of year.  Please be careful where you park your car or travel to avoid getting stuck.

•Be prepared for slow moving traffic, especially when it is over and people are leaving our town.

•Dress for cold weather as our typical temperatures fluctuate greatly at that time of year.  Temperatures could be below freezing, so make sure you have boots, and warm winter clothing even though the calendar may say April.

•We have limited major roads, be prepared for traffic congestion especially when the eclipse is over.

•No overnight camping allowed, unless at a private campground.  No fires allowed.

•Beware of our wildlife, bears will be waking up from their winter naps, deer and moose will be active.

•The nearest hospital to Pittsburg is 30 minutes away and small.  Remember to bring any medications that you will need with you.

•The ice on the lakes can be unstable at that time of year.  Please do not venture out on the ice to get a better look at the eclipse.

•No charging stations for electric cars are in town.  The closest one would be at the IGA in Colebrook.

•ISO Certified Eclipse Glasses should be worn to observe the eclipse safely.

•Stopping, Standing or Parking Prohibited on US Rt 3 and town roads. All vehicles must stay off the paved portion of the roadway to keep traffic running smoothly and to provide ample space for emergency vehicles to travel. Any violators will be cited and their vehicles may be towed at the owner’s expense.

•NH Move Over Law is about everyone’s safety. Emergency personnel/ Tow trucks can only do so much to keep themselves safe when they are pulled over on the side of the road. Slowing down and moving over when passing emergency vehicles and tow trucks will help make sure this stays a safe event.   Pittsburg has a dog leash ordinance as well as it is a state law. This is more about keeping your dog safe for this event. Pittsburg has vast wilderness, and if your dog gets separated. It is very easy for them to run off and never to be seen. Please keep all dogs under control.
